The next option I tested was using a cheap miniPC running Windows 10 and Apple’s iCloud software to copy the files onto the mounted Synology drive. There are a few command line scripts that can talk directly to your iCloud account, but they all looked a bit fragile – I want a setup that is going to work reliably and doesn’t require maintenance. The main downside of doing this is it only works when online.A few years ago, I decided to go all-in with iCloud Photos. So looks like the DSM 6.0 upgrade broke the Cloud Station sync/backup between the workstations running the Cloud Station Backup Client v3. Unless it is a very simple note, I tend to just use the browser interface on my iPad. The palette in the web browser is very nice.
They are dark and muddy and difficult to read the words that have been highlighted. The palette of colors available in the iOS app are pathetic. When cutting and pasting in a bullet list, you often get “phantom” bullets that are very hard to get rid of. To fix this, you often need to go back to the browser interface and correct the font issues. I always leave the note in the default font, but there are often font changes after cutting and pasting. When cutting and pasting in a note, the font often changes. Very annoying when trying to edit a note. It works in the subject line, but not the note itself. You cannot use the arrow keys to move around when using a Bluetooth keyboard.

There have been ongoing bugs with the iOS app for a couple of years and Synology does not seem motivated to update the app.
